SOOO this morning I woke up living in a horror story!!!! Late last night Austin and I booked our flights and hotel for NYC. We were a little tired but after researching for hours and hours until we finally decided to go with this one flight and hotel package that seemed to be a great deal. The pictures looked amazing online and it was located right in the middle of Times Square, it couldn’t be better! Until I stumbled upon their Yelp reviews. Oh my gosh you guys would have freaked out. It was straight from a horror movie. One girl said they were laying on the bed before they noticed a bunch of blood stains all over the sheets (I saw the pictures and almost barfed) and then another lady said she woke up with bugs crawling all over her face and there was a picture of the bug!!! The list went on and on and I wanted to cry haha. Luckily I was able to call Expedia and cancel for my full refund. Thank God! Now I booked our stay at another hotel with much better reviews and with a great location as well 🙂
Moral of the story: always Yelp your shit.

I just did something very spontaneous….. I booked a trip to NYC………. NEXT WEEKEND! I got invited to go to the Governor’s Ball, which is a music festival in New York, and I thought why not?! I’ll be going with Austin, just us two (how romantic!!). We’re staying at a nice hotel in Times Square and according to the photos it looks like we will be right in the middle of it all. Gosh I’m so excited for the high-energy feeling of that city. I’ve been once before with my family a few years back and we had such a great time so it will be nice to return. Except that trip was during Christmas so I imagine it will be much different this time haha.
Do you guys have any recommendations for New York? Have you guys been to the Governor’s Ball before?! I heard it’s like the ”Coachella” of NYC 🙂
I did some light shopping while in DC and I found these gorgeous pants from Kendall and Kylie’s collection in Georgetown. How cute are they?! They’re really light and airy which is going to be perfect for the summer time. This time I paired it with my leather jacket for a more edgy look but next time I’m thinking of wearing them with a white top and white strappy heels 🙂
After shooting this look, Austin and I went to the market to pick up tonight’s dinner: baked wild-caught salmon with sautéed green beans and a fresh beet and avocado salad. I am trying to eat extra healthy this week after 10 days of a total free-for-all diet. I was eating everything from strawberry and cream french toast to frozen yogurt to doughnuts to pancakes…. and I don’t regret it one bit! But it just means I’m taking it easy on the heavy carbs this week haha (as I eat chips).
After 10 jam-packed adventurous days in Virginia and DC, I’m finally back home in LA. I know you guys didn’t get to see much of my trip, however I think a mini DC travel guide will be in the cards in the next few days! It was sorta difficult to take pictures over there with all of the touring, rainy weather, no proper camera, etc. so I’m really pumped to take tons of photos for you guys this week!! I promise I’ll make it up to you <3
Tonight is the first episode of The Bachelorette! I’m making Austin watch it with me so I’m hoping he will get hooked on it and watch it with me this whole season hehe. I’m so looking forward to crawling into my own bed tonight!!
BIKINI SEASON BEGINS…. let’s talk the cutest styles of the summer!
1. High-waisted bikini bottoms…. are we doing it? Despite seeing them basically everywhere online, I haven’t seen too many people actually wearing them on the beach. I have mixed feelings…but I would definitely wear this tropical print one!
2. Muted neutral colors. HELL YES. Because aren’t we all sick of all those obnoxiously bright colors?! No I do not need a bright blue and green stripe print on my bathing suit at the moment. Muted neutrals compliment a lot of skin tones and look so earthy-chic.
3. Fun tops. Lately I’ve been seeing more straps and strings and tassels on bikini tops and I love it! I’d rather the top have a little more pizzazz and keep the bottoms simple. It’s especially nice to have something interesting going on on your bikini top if you’re rather flat chested like me. There are so many cute styles that compliment flat chested women… some of my favorites are high-neck tops, tassel detailing, front ties, and embellishments.
Some snaps from our DC trip 🙂
As you can see we’ve been touring it up here on the East Coast for the past few days. We’ve been so lucky with the weather too… warm and sunny. But that won’t last for long, tomorrow is supposed to have full on showers throughout the day. I’m happy we got our city strolling days done already!
Today something rather scary happened in D.C. It was actually pretty freaky because we were hanging out taking pictures in front of the White House after breakfast and then just hours later we find out that a guy walked up to White House with a gun and it ended in a shooting. One of the secret service agents shot him after failing to comply with their order to drop the weapon. We were so freaked out when we heard the news…
Tomorrow we’re having brunch at one of my favorite spots in DC. I have to do a DC travel guide because I have tons of restaurant/sightseeing recommendations for you guys!
YAY! It’s that time again! Montazami Brand is having 2 days of totally free shipping starting NOW! On all orders, domestic and international, over $50.
Grab a dress for your graduation or a ivy print jumpsuit for the summer 🙂 We also put some new items on sale for amazing prices, so make sure you check it out!
Took powder pink to a whole new level yesterday in Arlington, Virginia! The camera settings are a little off but it still turned out semi-ok haha. I’m bummed I don’t have my Canon camera with me on this trip, it’s getting a little too difficult to share the camera with Sara since we’re traveling separately a lot more these days. Do you guys have any camera recommendations? One that’s fit for a blogger… everyday photos, food photos, outfit photos, etc. I would be very thankful for any help <3
Touchdown Washington DC!
I’m writing to you guys with swollen hands and feet all the way from the East Coast! It’s a usual thing for me to swell up on airplanes… I swear it’s like once my flight reaches the two-hour mark, my body gives the green light to inflate all of my limbs with fluid. The worst part is when your sneakers become too tight and you have to take them off to massage your cankles… tell me I’m not the only one who suffers from this travel issue 😐
But how cute is my new Cavalet silver suitcase?! I love how it has four wheel drive because TRUST ME when I say there’s a major difference between 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers. All of the not-so-light-travel-packers appreciate four wheel drive on their suitcase because 1) you’re not carrying the weight, just pushing it 2) the top of the suitcase now acts as a great platform to hold your other not-so-light carry on bag and 3) who wouldn’t wanna show up to the airport with a badass four wheel drive suitcase??
It was hard to choose a color because Cavalet offers so many cute ones but I went for the light silver because it looks classic and chic. The size is perfect too… I got the biggest size they offer and it’s still very comfortable for traveling.
I’ve partnered up with Cavalet to give you guys 25% off a suitcase with the code “Montazami” so if you’re interested in looking like a badass at the airport, it’s that much easier now 🙂

Here’s some photos from the mens fashion event I attended last week with Austin at LACMA. The exhibit was called ”Reigning Men” and it featured fashion in menswear over time. It was cool to see how the styles have changed so much but still nothing we wear now is new, just redone. The woman who created the exhibit had been working on it for five whole years! She knew everything about every fashion trend in each century. I would love to see the same exhibit but for womens’ fashion. I’m guessing we’d see A LOT of the things we’re wearing now…
Today we saw Austin’s older sister Lindsey graduate with a masters degree in forensic and legal psychology! We are so proud of her. She’s an amazing makeup blogger as well, I always get great makeup and skin care advice from her. Make sure to check out her blog here 🙂
